About Ralph Dost
As a designer, artist, and artisan, I’m deeply inspired by the process where ancient wisdom meets modern science and technology. It’s truly fascinating to witness how these seemingly disparate fields often converge and affirm one another. This synergy fuels my love for biophilic design, an approach rooted in humanity’s innate, genetically determined affinity for the natural world—a love for nature that I’ve felt since childhood.
My personal practices, such as meditation, yoga, and various breathing techniques, are ancient traditions now increasingly validated by modern science, particularly neuroscience and our growing understanding of the autonomic nervous system. This evidence-based appreciation for timeless practices is incredibly inspiring. Whether studying the yoga lifestyle (like the Bhagavad Gita), Japanese Zen, the Wim Hof Method, or the teachings of Joe Dispenza, a consistent core message emerges: unconditional love. Love for oneself, for others, for nature, the universe, and the multiverse. The heart symbol (♡), a universal and powerful emblem of love, holds a particular fascination for me.
My creations exist in the space where art and design seamlessly morph into one another. This unique blend is guided by several core values:
- Harmony & Balance: I strive for balance between nature and craftsmanship, peace and energy.
- Energy: My designs aim to capture the tangible energy of a space and the inherent purity of materials.
- Craftsmanship & Natural Materials: I prioritize local, circular wood, biobased, and eco-friendly options (VOC and microplastic-free). The materials are often pure and raw, yet can also achieve an elegant finish.
- Simplicity & Flow: I believe in the power of simple forms and effortless movement.
- Slow & Authentic: My process embraces a deliberate pace, valuing genuineness over mass production.
- Mindfulness & Imperfection: I celebrate the beauty found in the lived experience—the subtle marks of patina or the effects of time. This appreciation for handmade imperfection, mirroring nature’s own unpolished beauty, resonates deeply with Wabi-Sabi.
My artistic inspirations draw from the fluid lines of Zaha Hadid and the organic forms of Gaudi. These influences, combined with my core values, have shaped my work, including the existing “Diamond Heart Collection.” Currently, I’m developing the “Morphing Collection,” which features organic forms symbolizing transformation through time and space.
Beyond my own designs, I also specialize in creating customized versions and unique items—truly tailored treasures. I offer designing and crafting services on demand for bespoke pieces of furniture, decoration, and design, bringing your vision to life.
